CHILD PASSENGER SEAT INSPECTIONS
 


CPS DIVERSION PROGRAM IS HELD ON THE 3rd WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS.
FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND LOCATION, CALL SAFE KIDS RUTHERFORD AT (828) 447-1866 (Leave a message someone will return your call)
please do not call the fire or police department, we cannot assist you with the CPS diversion schedule.
Remember - "Be Nice" The Safe Kids volunteers are here to help educate you on child passenger safety, and assist with reducing injuries or even death to your child. Safe Kids did not issue you the citation.  This is a free service that could save you court costs and the amount of the traffic fine.  The Diversion process can take 1 hour or more of your time depending on the amount of participants so be patient.    Failure to bring needed items are your individual responsibility.  The items listed below are mandatory with the regulations set forth by each local court system, If you fail to follow the rules, Safe Kids reserves the right to dismiss you from the program at their discretion, you will then be able to pay your fine to the court system.
* ITEMS YOU MUST HAVE WHEN YOU COME TO DIVERSION*
1 - THE CHILD OR CHILDREN THAT WERE IMPROPERLY RESTRAINED IN VEHICLE
2 - THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE
3 - THE CITATION
4- YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE
5 - THE VEHICLE YOU WERE DRIVING WHEN YOU RECEIVED THE CITATION
6 - APPROPRIATE CHILD PASSENGER SEAT, BOOSTER, ETC.

IF YOU ARRIVE TO THE APPOINTMENT WITHOUT ONE OF THE ABOVE ITEMS, SAFE KIDS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU WITH THE DIVERSION, AND YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO PAY THE FULL CITATION AMOUNT ON YOUR COURT DATE, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Safe Kids Seat Check Saturday, September 16, 2017 Staff & Volunteers from multiple Safe Kids Rutherford County  participated in the 
Child Passenger Seat event that was held at the Tri-City Mall parking lot 10a-2pm.  Thanks to everyone that came out. 






SPINDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT 

 "Smoke Alarm Grant"

April 16th 2015 - Spindale Fire Department was notified by the NC Office of State Fire Marshal that our community was selected to receive their "Smoke Alarm Canvassing Grant"

The Smoke alarms are offered & Installed by Spindale Fire Department free, to residents located in high risk fire areas located throughout the town. Firefighters will Install new smoke alarms in the homes as well as educate the citizens on safety escape plans and fire prevention.

Each smoke alarm is equipped with a 10 year tamper proof lithium battery. Firefighters are currently installing the smoke alarms by appointment only, Please Call (828) 286-3465 For additional details.  Statistical information will be sent back to the State Fire Marshals office on each smoke alarm that we Install.
(If you have an open flame heating or cooking source you may also qualify for a free Carbon Monoxide alarm)

Saturday July 30th, 2016 - Spindale Fire Department assisted the Mountain Area Chapter of the American Red Cross with its second "Smoke Alarm Canvassing" in the Town of Spindale since January of this year.

"Smoke Alarms Save Lives" 
 
  
Spindale home owners can contact the Fire Department for assistance installing smoke alarms in their home.  We will also assist you with replacing the battery and testing existing smoke alarms by appointment only.
Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-4pm. 

 

Spindale Fire Department hosted the R.C. Fire Safety House for the K-3rd grade students at Spindale Elementary on October 6th.

Firefighter Scott Moore assisted teaching fire safety to children from Spindale United Methodist Church Day care - October 22nd.
