         Commissioner Gilliam is a two-year veteran of the Spindale Town Council. Appointed in 2020, she currently serves as Chair of the Spindale Centennial Committee. A recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award, Commissioner Gilliam is a passionate advocate for animals. 

         She is a member of Spencer Baptist Church and draws her support from her family: her mother, Becky; her nephews Rocky Gilliam, Kelly Gilliam, and his wife Mary, and Dr. Kevin Gilliam, DNP. She is also well-loved by her great-nephews Riley and Ethan. In her spare time, Commissioner Gilliam’s hobbies include watching TCM, reading, classic movies, watching Longmire, and listening to Queen or the Eagles.

         Commissioner Gilliam has a wonderful career in radio broadcasting. Beginning as a graduate of Isothermal Community College and the Carolina School of Broadcasting, Commissioner Gilliam has spent a lifetime on the airwaves. She has received awards for her 40 years of dedication to radio broadcasting. She currently is the Office Manager, Program Director, and ‘jack-of-all-trades' at WCAB Radio.
