Spindale has a long history of being a textile community, but as the economy changes, we are moving forward to meet the challenges of the future. I invite all individuals, industries, or businesses to visit our small town with a big heart and see for yourself the many benefits of living and working here.
About Mayor Bland
Mayor Bland has served on the Spindale Town Council since 1999. He served first as Mayor Pro-Tem until he was elected Mayor in November 2005.
Mayor Bland's background as a District Manager for the Probation & Parole office, along with his experience as the manager of the Tri-City Mall makes him a valuable asset to our town.
A graduate of RS-Central High School and UNC-Charlotte, Mayor Bland has served on several community committees and boards including the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission, the Rutherford County Economic Development Commission, as a Hearing Officer for Section 8 Housing, and as Chairman of the Broad River Water Authority.
Mayor Bland is especially proud of his family: his wife Patti who serves as the organist for Southern Baptist Church and his son Jonathan who is an Instructor of Economics at Isothermal Community College. The Bland family also has a beloved canine companion, Baker, who is a cocker spaniel.
Mayor Bland is a recipient of numerous awards, certifications, and accolades including The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, an Advanced Corrections Certificate, and a Housing Development Financial Professional Certification.
Spindale Town Commissioners
