         Commissioner Harmon has been a lifelong resident of the Town of Spindale. He spent his early years as a student at Spindale Elementary School, Carver Middle School, and RS Central High School. After high school, Commissioner Harmon enrolled in Isothermal Community College. 

         Beginning his career in textile, Commissioner Harmon has always known the importance of small-town living. After becoming a law enforcement officer, first in Rutherfordton and later in Spindale, Commissioner Harmon's passion for helping local citizens was understood by many; this passion drove him to obtain his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. He was identified as a leader by both his comrades and his supervisors. He rose through the ranks to become Spindale's Assistant Police Chief before retiring in 2014. Commissioner Harmon's lifelong passion for public safety also called him to become a member of the Spindale Fire Department--where he served for 20 years. Currently, Commissioner Harmon works in the Rutherford County District Attorney's office. 

         Commissioner Harmon is married to his wife Lisa, an employee of the Rutherford County Clerk of Court's office. Commissioner Harmon also attends Spencer Baptist Church and is a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
