WWTP Senior Operator
Salary Range: $42,138 - $52,673 DOE
The Town of Spindale is looking for a WWTP Senior Operator. Main duties include, but are not limited to, daily plant inspections, collection and analyzing daily samples as required by our NPDES permit, assist in pretreatment sampling and inspections, maintenance of equipment, computer work as required and directed by the WWTP Superintendent. This position acts as the backup ORC. The position requires a Grade III wastewater certification however we will entertain candidates who currently have a Grade II and can obtain Grade III within 6 months. Maintenance experience, computer skills in Excel and Word is a plus. Some weekend work is required. The Town provides health, dental and vision insurance, NC State retirement, 5% 401k, holiday pay, sick and vacation days. Closing date is October 18, 2024 EOE

Volunteer Firefighter -- Spindale Fire Department
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; Clear criminal and driving record; NC Drivers license, dependable transportation; Healthy with ability to perform firefighter tasks; Must reside within 3 miles of the town limits; Desire to serve our citizens;

Minimum qualifications: Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have: NC Firefighter certification, NC EMT-B, NC driver operator pumps, NC HazMat operations, high school diploma or equivalent, two years of firefighting experience and a North Carolina Class B Driver's License. Also, must be able to pass physical agility test, SCBA fit test, criminal background check, drug test, and annual OSHA required medical physical.

Police Officer -- Spindale Police Department

Police Officer
An employee in this class performs a full range of general law enforcement duties in the patrol division. Work includes patrolling the Town during a shift in a police car, on foot, by bicycle, or other appropriate means - preventing, detecting, and investigating disturbances and crime; investigating traffic accidents, helping victims, and performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; testifying in court; and executing related assignments. Employees must exercise judgment, initiative, and calm control when performing duties, but more difficult problems are normally carried out under the direction or in conjunction with the Police Sergeant. Work involves frequent public contact which requires tact, firmness, and decisiveness. Work is performed in accordance with departmental policy and state and federal law, supplemented with specific directions from superior officers. Employees are subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work. The employees are also subject to Level III OSHA Standards on blood-borne pathogens. Work is performed under regular supervision, and is evaluated through observation, review of reports, and discussion concerning how particular incidents or activities were handled. Applicants must be BLET certified; a resident of North Carolina; possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license; have a High School Diploma or equivalent and pass an extensive background investigation to include drug testing.
